Our motto ‘Cofia Ddysgu Byw’ (Remember to learn how to live) summarises our aim of ensuring that all pupils are prepared for life after leaving school. I believe that we prepare pupils by developing their skills and values in preparation for life beyond the classroom and in anticipation of facing the challenges of the 21st Century. We are here to work together to create a first rate Welsh Medium Secondary School. We expect the highest possible standards from our pupils and we will do our utmost to give them every opportunity and guidance.
The school has consistently attained very high academic standards at county and national level. The wide ranging and vibrant extra curricular life of the school has been a notable feature of the school’s life and culture from the outset. We are very proud of our successes in all fields including academic, cultural and sporting achievements. We take pride in the personal progress of all our pupils whatever their talents and interests. One of the main strengths of the school has always been its caring, open and happy ethos where pupils feel at home and enjoy their education in a totally Welsh environment. One of our main aims as a school is to make the learning an exciting and pleasurable experience mainly by ensuring we use teaching and learning methods which are interesting and actively involve our pupils.
Every pupil is regarded as an individual who is an important member of the ‘family’ of Ysgol y Preseli. This fundamental principle of respecting each individual and placing the individual’s needs at the centre forms the basis of the school’s ethos, values and success as a good school.
