CAREER EDUCATION

A series of lessons are provided for pupils in years 10, 11, 12 and 13 as part of the programme for the Welsh Baccalaureate qualification. The lessons concentrate on the following activities:

  • Using the CareersWales.com computer assisted courses for research into appropriate jobs based on a pupil’s interests and skills.

  • Interviews for pupils in Years 9, 11, 12 and 13 by the Careers Officer. Parents are also invited to this meeting.

  • A week’s work experience for Years 10 and 12.

  • Enterprise activities for pupils in Years 7-13.

  • Mock interviews by local employers and businessmen and businesswomen for pupils in Years 11 and 13.

  • Journey to Work days for year 9 pupils.

  • Careers Convention every other year for pupils in Years 9 – 13.

  • Lessons for year 10 and 11 pupils on Industry and the World of Work which include producing a personal C.V.

  • Paving the Way Conference for year 11 pupils.

  • Aiming High week for year 12 pupils at the end of the Summer Term.

  • The Careers Officer attends Year 9-13 parents evenings as well as the Year 12 Open Evening.
